Puchong - Yong Tau Fu

PUCHONG Yong Tau Fu is located at the intersection between Jalan Puchong Batu 14 and Jalan Tembusu. They have a branch at Taman Bukit Serdang, Sri Kembangan.

Both are equally good but I recommend going to the Puchong main restaurant to experience first hand how they Yong Tau Fu is made.

You litterally order the veggies "RAW" and pass it to the cook.

They will them stuff the filling(fish paste) in the veggies and deep fry or boil them.

In the past, they used to stuff the filling inside the tau fu but due to cumbersome skill involve, they seperate the filling and the tau fu.

I find it brilliant. You order 1 piece and get 2 instead! Hahhahaa...

You will have to wait a while for them to prepare the food. You may order side dishes like "wun chai kou"to silence the hungry stomach. The toppings are Choy Poh (salted turnips)

The soup comes with mani-chai (Cekur Manis). I love the soup, it taste pure and not oily.

Finally comes to my favorite part, the fried fu pei. Crispy like hell...

You may deep them with sweet and chilli sauce which goes well together!

Yong Tau Fu - come in different variety such as brinjal, bitter gourd, chilli, yau char kuai and etc.

Should you try? Yes and don't hesitate. Go now.

Bali - Natural Disaster

BALI is located on the Ring Of Fire. Volcanoes and earthquakes happens there. This means tourist visiting Bali might experience this natural disaster. Generally, the earthquake in Bali is not that strong according to my local driver "Ketut".

During an earth quake, would most likely be injured or killed by fall on objects. Anyone attempting to hide under a desk or a bed is always killed due to falling ceiling. However, falling beams always end up forming triangles of space between the crushed object and the floor.

Instead of hiding under a solid object, lay on the floor next to it and you will likely have a space to survive such as a car

So what are the 10 things you should remember during an earthquake?

1. Anyone who Ducks and Covers will probably get killed. Look for a solid object (like a car) and lay next to it
2. Use a fetal(baby) position to lay in.
3. Wooden buildings are safer than brick because they are more flexible. Cement buildings tend to crush people where as brick buildings tend to deliver more projectile type injuries.
4. If you are in bed just roll out of bed and lay next to it.
5. If you are watching tv or eating dinner lay next to your sofa.
6. Do not stand in doorways
7. Stay away from the stairs as they are likely to fail.
8. If inside a large building try to get outside or at least as close as you can to the outer walls. The further inside you are the more the likelihood of your escape route being blocked.
9. If you are inside a car lay next to the car. Doug points to the Nimitz double-decker freeway that collapsed in California in 1988. Most people were crushed when the upper level fell on the one below. There was still 2 feet of space to lay in next to the cars.
10. Large spaces are often found in offices next to stacks of paper.

A couple of simple tips can make all the difference for us travelers in Indonesia.

    Bali, Indonesia - Day 4

    13 April 2011

    10:00am
    Check out from Tune Hotel

This was the currency rate on 13 April 2011

    10:23am
Went to Gelora Tri Sakti again. You are right! We have pork satay for the 3rd time!! This time, she gave us pork skin instead of liver on the 10th stick.

    11:00am

Oasis Hotel - We moved in to this hotel on the 3rd day. We were too early, the room will only be ready at 1pm.
Room rates are 861,638 IDR per night

We went out for shopping to past our time

Should you stay here? Yes. All the rooms are facing the swimming pool. The beach is just a stone throw away from the hotel. Room and bath tub is big and clean. Staff are friendly as well.

    12:00pm
Hawaii Bali - Shopping here. Nothing special

Should you go there? Not necessary, unless you need to buy souvenir

    12:55pm
Frustrated not buying anything, we went Carrefour instead. There's a foodcourt with decent taste food.

The mineral are the cheapest in Bali

    Decide to cut your hair?

Ate fried rice at Carrefour. Nothing special about it. Another normal dish

Should you go there? Up to you. This is another typical Carrefour but for some reason I was really happy to be there.

    3:00pm
Check in back to Oasis Hotel. These are the things we bought earlier in Carrefour.

    4:00pm
Swimming pool at Oasis Beach hotel.

Beach is just 20 meters away!

    The beach

    6:00pm
Went to Jukung, Jimbaran for Dinner

Told you before, the beach is dirty as hell

Compare the food between Jukung and Blue Ocean, the latter is much better.
    This meal cost 194,000 IDR

Should you eat there? What choice do we have? It seems, all the restaurant here are the same.

    Bali, Indonesia - Day 3

    12 April 2011

    9.15am
Went back to Gelora Tri Sakti due to pork satay's temptation :D
See Day 2 of our Bali trip.

Should you try? Yes and its a must to try.

    10:16am
Reach Sukawati. The first think I notice is..... Toyota again!

Anyway, Sukawati is a place for cheap shopping. Remember you must bargain! If they are selling you a scarf for 200,000 IDR, you may reduce it to 20,000 IDR. Oh, I am serious. Insist on that price, else just walk away and miracle will happen. Don't believe any story the guys tell you such as:

"I have 3 parents" or "these are handmade by me..." bla bla bla.

But well, if you can afford 200,000 IDR why not? They are just trying to make a living.

Bought Jamu drink for 3000 IDR. Don't try. I thought I would taste like lemon but instead its a mixture of cough syrup and mint.

The seller insist his "Es buah campur" is very delicious. We took the challenge. To our surprise, it taste very good & refreshing. It contains mix fruit with jellies.

Balinese love chicks. Especially multi colored chick

Should I go? Yes but be prepared to be surrounded by vultures.

    12:30pm
Reach mount Kintamani - the only active volcano in Bali. The temperature is pretty cold and wearing jacket is advisable.

There are many restaurant in Kintamani that serve buffet lunch. Make sure you go to Grand Puncak Sari. It cost 85000 IDR per pax.

Nothing special about the food but what choice do you have? Its lunch and you are hungy.

For some reason the whole mountain is infected with flies. Just keep you eyes on your food and drinks!

Should you try? Yes. The view is spectacular. Bring along you jacket and beware of flies.

    2:20pm
Tirta Empul Temple - The spring water is believe to be holy as it water flows out from the ground. The water is then channel to individual stone statue which is believed to cure different sickness. President Sukarno built his residence beside the temple. HOW HOLY!

    Entrance fee is 15,000 IDR.

To my surprise, there are fresh water crab living here :D

Should you try? Yes since the temple is not barricaded. Its also a good place to take photos. The locals will try to sway you into a different exit where a bunch of ladies will con you into buying their product. Remember to Bargain!

    3.30pm
Bali Pulina agro tourisum have a small orchard and civet cat kept in cages. The civet cat is feed with coffee beans and the by product will be used to make you famous Kopi Luwak which cost 20000 IDR per cup! Anyway, I personally will not try Kopi Luwak. Its cruel to kept the animal in cages and being fed with coffee bean. Manual process coffee taste as good as well.

Should you go? No. Don't support Kopi Luwak.

    4:10pm
Rice terrace is a must to visit.

Should you go? Yes. Nice place to take photos

    4:40pm
Monkey forest but we never went down because we are too tired. The monkeys here are gentle compare to those in Uluwatu.
    [sorry no pic. try google]

Should you go? No comments as we never stop to visit.

    5:20pm
Reached Pasar Malam Ubud at Sukawati Sejatera Danaman. We bought ayam panggang and babi guling again. The taste is horrible. Don't try.

    Oversize meatball.

    Pasar Malam

Don't be tempted by the roast pig. Do not buy any food there. I regret eating this.

Ayam pangang. Don't buy either. Regretted buying it.

You can see the same thing in Thailand. Anyway, does custom at the airport allow fish?

Should you go? Yes but don't try the food.

    6:00pm
Head back to hotel. Do you know how much petrol cost in Bali? Its damn cheap.

Did I show you how to open Tune Hotel's windows? Pretty innovative huh? What... ok I have bad taste.

    Good nite!
