Awet Sawadee 88 at Chan Sau Lin

Awet Sawadee 88 is  located in a remote area at Chan Sau Lin. This is a Thai restaurant and fishing pond. The ambience is like having dinner in anold fishing village.

Relaxing environment. Part of the restaurant is floating on the pond.

You may go fishing of you like as the food serve is very slow.

Pandan chicken. Nothing special.

BBQ crab. Not bad. Flesh is solid, not dry and fresh.

Salt baked talapia fish. A well done dish. Flesh is juicy and sweet. There is a slight taste of soil but can easily over come with dipping on the chili sauce.

Terrible taste of tom yam. In fact its doesn't taste like tom yam at all.

Overall the food is not up to my expectation. I would rather go to Nong and Jimmy near Pandah indah.

If you are looking for a retreat away from busy city life then this place may do the trick.

Sim Kee BBQ Pork Rice

Located out of sight from the main road of Balakong, is where you can find this delicious Bbq pork rice aka char siew.

Its located behind Balakong Milwaukee. They recently move to this new shop. Previously they are located opposite POS mini Balakong. To my knowledge, they are around for almost 10 years now.

Large amount of bbq pork to cater to the customer.

Close up of the photo show how succulent the pork is. Special chinese-flavored BBQ sauce is used as marinate. Its also know as glass char siew because the pork has layer of fats sandwich between the meat which make it soft and juicy!

We ordered char siew and siew yok. Siew Yok is also a must to try. After eating at this restaurant, you will never want to eat normal char siew anymore.

Kai choi is moderate spicy and sour. Taste is just right and suitable for everyone. It goes well with the BBQ pork!

SHOULD YOU TRY?  YES!!!!

Operation hours
Everday 11.30am-2pm. Closed on Thursday.
Remember, their food sold out after 2pm!

Sekinchan Ikan Bakar, Balakong

15 April 2011

8:00PM
Saw this newly open restaurant at Balakong (near Jusco Chears Selatan). Sekinchan is actually a small town in Sabak Bernam. I didn't know Sekinchan is famous for ikan bakar(grill fish), I thought the place is famous for padi field instead.

The atmosphere is very nice. Many people, very lively crowd, friendly staff - feels like fish market minus the fishy market smell.

You may choose to pick your own seafood to grill. There are varieties of seafood to choose. From fish to stingray to muscles and etc. Too bad, there is ketam hijau!

Depending on the seafood, most item are usually Rm7/100gm. Other are determined by market price. Remember, they have rules and regulation!
  • Remember your own table number.
  • You are not allowed to change table after making orders! (they are right)

They have only white rice, nasi lemak and kerabu (vegetable). There is no other fried food such as fried rice or mee.

Menu - price of food.

Menu - price of drinks are consider OK. I've order more expensive drinks at Damansara food court before.

Time to review about the food. The sauce & gravy are not spicy. The fish are tasteless without the sauce. Yes we should enjoy the freshness of the seafood but my cuttle fish and kerang as not fresh. Texture is like frozen for weeks. The fish are not dry and crispy. Its more like being steam. Sigh.. total dissapoinment. Jalan Alor grill fish is even better.

Total damage.

Should you try? No. Better go eat ikan bakar at normal warong or food court.
